Ligature, established in 1990, developed, manufactured and sold an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software package based on unique and proprietary stochastic and neural network algorithms. The company’s main offerings were software products that allow the user to scan a text document into a word processor template using optical scanners. In February 1998, the company was acquired by Wizcom, which later on went public on the Neue Markt in Frankfurt.
